Tesla Payments Integration Potential for Dogecoin
Dogecoin proponents have revived discussions regarding the cryptocurrency's future, prompted by a discovery on the social media platform X. Dogecoin enthusiast KrissPax observed that DOGE is the only cryptocurrency currently embedded in the payment code for Tesla's Cybertruck and Model 3 vehicles.
This revelation aligns with the current bullish sentiment surrounding DOGE and rumors about Tesla's plans to accept DOGE as a payment method.
Dogecoin Presence in Tesla's Payment Code
The inclusion of Dogecoin in Tesla's payment infrastructure has been known for some time. Back in October 2023, crypto influencer MartyParty identified over 50 references to Dogecoin within the source code of Tesla's Cybertruck checkout page.
The renewed interest stems from KrissPax's post on X, highlighting the presence of a DOGE code in Tesla's payment systems.
Implications for Dogecoin
Tesla CEO and Dogecoin advocate Elon Musk has repeatedly expressed his support for the cryptocurrency, advocating its use for everyday transactions. His endorsement has included Tesla's decision to accept DOGE as payment for select merchandise in January 2022.
A full integration of DOGE as a payment method for Tesla cars would significantly enhance its utility and open up new avenues for investment. It could also inspire other companies to adopt DOGE as a payment option.
Interestingly, Tesla previously accepted Bitcoin as payment for its vehicles in 2021, but discontinued the option due to environmental concerns.
Current Dogecoin Price
At the time of writing, Dogecoin is trading at $0.3842, down by 0.92% and 1.69% in the past 24 hours and seven days, respectively.
