Kabosu, the renowned Japanese dog who graced the Dogecoin logo, has regrettably passed away this morning at 7:50 AM. The 18-year-old Shiba Inu breed, known for her distinctive facial expression and seated posture, became the face of Dogecoin in the crypto industry after her viral dog memes in 2013. While this is a somber occasion, Kabosu had been unwell for an extended period and is now finally at peace. She was and will continue to be cherished by her family and the entire crypto community.
Dogecoin Dog Farewell Date & Time
Atsuko Sato, Kabosu's owner, shared the news of her passing in a blog post, describing Kabosu's prolonged suffering. Since 2022, Kabosu had been battling liver disease and leukemia.
"She passed away peacefully, as if asleep, while I stroked her. I believe Kabo-chan was the most contented dog in the world. And I was the most fortunate owner," said Sato.
Kabosu's family has planned a Farewell party in her honor, to be held this Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, Narita City, from 1 to 4 PM.
The Rise of the Dogecoin Dog
Atsuko Sato, a teacher from Sakura, east of Tokyo, adopted Kabosu from a puppy mill in 2008. Two years later, Ms. Sato shared photos of Kabosu crossing her paws on the sofa online, which quickly went viral. The memes featuring Kabosu included humorous broken English, expressing simple words and thoughts.
