Alleged Dogecoin Attack Disputed by Community
Andreas Kohl claimed responsibility for exploiting the "DogeReaper" vulnerability, but community members have questioned his assertion, stating that the Dogecoin network has remained operational.
Mishaboar Rebuts Kohl's Claims
Dogecoin community member "Mishaboar" refuted Kohl's claims, stating that the DogeReaper vulnerability had already been patched in a node update released two weeks prior. Mishaboar also highlighted that the data Kohl referenced from Blockchair was unreliable.
Blockchair Data Questioned
Mishaboar pointed out that Blockchair's data, which showed a drop in online nodes after the alleged attack, is incomplete. "what-is-dogecoin.com" suggests that the Dogecoin network has over 14,000 nodes.
Limited Impact on Network
Mishaboar noted that the Dogecoin network could continue functioning even with a reduced number of live nodes. Bitcoin developer Peter Todd agreed, stating that disrupting 69% of publicly accessible Dogecoin nodes would have minimal impact on network consensus.
Market Unfazed
Despite the confusion surrounding Kohl's claims, the DOGE market has remained calm, indicating investor confidence. DOGE is currently experiencing a slight correction in line with the broader market downturn.
Whale Activity Spikes
Recent transfers by DOGE whales have been noticeable. According to Whale Alert, over 61 million DOGE and 85.4 million DOGE, valued at approximately $23.5 million and $32.9 million respectively, were transferred between unidentified wallets and the Robinhood platform.
