Ethereum and Altcoins Fall to Multi-Week Lows

Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies have experienced a steep decline, reaching lows not seen in several weeks. This bearish trend has also impacted Bitcoin (BTC) and decentralized finance (DeFi) tokens. Ethereum's price has retraced significantly, eroding recent gains.

Market Decline Driven by Declining Confidence

The primary factor contributing to the market decline is a loss of investor confidence, with many attributing it to a broader market correction. The total crypto market capitalization has dropped to $2.11 trillion, reflecting a 4.8% decrease in the past 24 hours. Several altcoins have suffered even greater losses, further exacerbating negative sentiment.

Ethereum Price Nears $3,000

Earlier this year, Ethereum and other crypto assets soared to record highs following the approval of Bitcoin spot ETFs in the United States. However, despite previous gains and institutional interest, recent sell-offs have dampened market sentiment. Ethereum is currently trading at $3,075, marking a 7% drop in the past 24 hours. Weekly losses have exceeded 11%, while monthly figures have plunged over 19%.

Outflows Signal Potential Sales

Outflows from Ethereum have led to declines in other altcoins as well. Ethereum's market capitalization has fallen to $367 billion, and daily trading volume has exceeded $20 billion. Earlier projections of sustained growth above $4,000 have been replaced by a sharp price drop, with ETH now approaching $3,000. This decline may indicate further downward pressure on crypto asset prices, although some investors anticipate a recovery.

Altcoins Sink Along with Ethereum

As noted by analysts, Ethereum's price is susceptible to positive mainstream factors, such as the listing of ETH ETFs. However, the recent downturn has also impacted altcoin prices, with Solana trading below $130 and Ripple plummeting over 8% in the past 24 hours. Toncoin and Cardano have also experienced losses, with meme coins facing the most significant declines.
