Privacy concerns have been raised in the crypto community, with Dogecoin community member Mishaboar emphasizing the privacy principles outlined by Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
Privacy Principles in Satoshi Nakamoto's Vision
Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, laid out a vision for privacy in the original Bitcoin whitepaper released in 2008. While Bitcoin's blockchain is transparent, Satoshi acknowledged the need for privacy, suggesting that users could maintain anonymity by keeping their public keys secret.
The traditional banking model achieves a level of privacy by limiting access to information to the parties involved and the trusted third party. However, in the Bitcoin network, all transactions are publicly announced. Satoshi contends that privacy can still be maintained by breaking the flow of information in another place: by keeping public keys anonymous. The public can see that someone is sending an amount to someone else, but there is no information linking the transaction to anyone.
Mishaboar's Emphasis on Privacy
Mishaboar has drawn attention to the transparency of most blockchains, including Bitcoin and Dogecoin, and the need for wallet apps that discourage address reuse to protect privacy.
