Recent reports indicate that the Dogecoin blockchain experienced a compromise involving a vulnerability known as "DogeReaper." This issue caused a majority of the network nodes to become inactive.
While initial concerns suggested a significant impact, further analysis has revealed that the vulnerability primarily affected outdated versions of the software. The latest versions of Dogecoin remain unaffected, ensuring the network's decentralization and stability.
"Recent reports about Dogecoin nodes being impacted only concern outdated versions," said DogeUni, a Dogecoin community handle. "The latest Dogecoin versions remain unaffected, ensuring the network's decentralization and stability are intact."
The attack temporarily disabled over 442 out of the total 647 active nodes. However, most of these nodes have since been restored after updating to the newer version.
The vulnerability, originally discovered by developer Tobias Ruck and rewarded with a $200 bounty, has raised concerns among the Dogecoin community about the potential impact on DOGE's future.
"It is not a very important vulnerability, but it may make you nervous if it is shared by serious news organizations. DOGE stands out as the best memecoin," said a crypto news handle.
