Bitcoin Tops $70,000, Triggering Gains for Meme Coins
Bitcoin's Wednesday surge to over $70,000 has sparked significant gains for leading meme coins in the past 24 hours. Shiba Inu (SHIB) rose by 7.7%, while Dogecoin (DOGE) increased by 2.1%.
Among the top five meme coins, Floki (FLOKI) recorded a notable 21.2% surge. However, BODEN emerged as the day's biggest winner, skyrocketing by 46%.
Meme Coin Market Expands
The meme coin market has witnessed a 4.6% increase against the U.S. dollar, with an estimated total valuation of $68.78 billion. Four out of the top five meme coins by market capitalization experienced gains, with Floki leading the way with a 21.2% increase. Only Pepe (PEPE) declined, falling by 0.8%.
Notable Gainers
Dogecoin saw a modest 2.1% increase, while Shiba Inu climbed by a more significant 7.7%. WIF also experienced a 4.1% growth. BODEN, the presidential meme token, stood out with an impressive 46.4% surge. Other notable gainers included Non Playable Coin (NPC) with a 35.7% increase, Wojak (WOJAK) with a 32.3% increase, and several others posting double-digit gains.
Mixed Performance
Despite the overall positive performance, some meme coins faced declines on Wednesday. OPTI dropped by 23.7%, OMIKAMI fell by 19.3%, GME decreased by 18.7%, and STRUMP declined by 17.9%. Many meme tokens linked to the GameStop, Roaring Kitty, and Wall Street Bets trend recorded losses.
