Meme Coins Surge with Triple-Digit Gains Dominating the Day
The cryptocurrency market has witnessed a surge in green today, with Bitcoin (BTC) reaching a multi-month peak and various large-cap altcoins experiencing significant gains. However, the most impressive performance has been in the realm of meme coins, with the top three leaders skyrocketing by triple digits.
Yesterday, CryptoPotato reported the massive surge experienced by Shiba Inu (SHIB), the second-largest meme coin. However, in the past 24 hours, SHIB has doubled down on its gains.
SHIB has surged by 22% on a daily basis, now trading at $0.000019, its highest price point since mid-July.
Dogecoin (DOGE), another prominent meme coin, has also risen by double digits since yesterday. The "OG" meme coin has soared by 11% and is currently trading above $0.12. As noted in yesterday's report, large whales have been actively accumulating DOGE, acquiring $140 million worth of the asset in just 48 hours.
Additionally, there are indications that DOGE could continue its upward trend towards $0.15 if it decisively surpasses the $0.111 resistance, which appears to be happening.
The rally in the meme coin realm extends further. PEPE has surged by 14%, WIF by 10%, FLOKI by 13.5%, and BONK, the top performer among the largest 100 alts, has added 19% in daily value.
Bitcoin has also managed to secure daily gains, albeit more modestly. The leading cryptocurrency approached $66,000 earlier today and is currently hovering above $65,000, representing a 3% increase since yesterday.
The total value of positions liquidated has reached $150 million, with BTC and ETH accounting for $41 million and $20 million, respectively.
