Supreme Court Rules Against Coinbase in Sweepstakes Case
Coinbase has lost its Supreme Court battle over arbitration in the Dogecoin sweepstakes case. Users alleged that the exchange engaged in deceptive marketing, leading them to spend $100 on the sweepstakes. Coinbase sought arbitration, but a separate agreement required disputes to be resolved in a California lawsuit.
The Ninth Circuit and a federal judge both ruled against Coinbase, and the Supreme Court unanimously upheld those decisions. Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal expressed appreciation for the Court's consideration.
