Critical Vulnerability Uncovered in Dogecoin (DOGE), Affecting 69% of Active Nodes

A severe security flaw has been identified in Dogecoin (DOGE), the cryptocurrency endorsed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Co-founder of Bitcoin sidechain Sequentia, Andreas Kohl, reportedly exploited the "DogeReaper" vulnerability, causing a staggering 69% of nodes on the Dogecoin network to malfunction, as reported by Cointelegraph.

Before the exploitation, the network had 647 active nodes. However, after the incident, the number plummeted to 315, as evidenced by on-chain data.

Discovered by security researcher Tobias Ruck and disclosed by the DOGE Efficiency Department in December, the "DogeReaper" vulnerability allows for remote shutdown of any Dogecoin node.

Despite the vulnerability's substantial implications, it was classified as low severity by the Coinbase Exchange, and Ruck was awarded a mere $200 bounty for his discovery.
