Billionaire investor and cohost of the Shark Tank show, Mark Cuban, has responded to a tweet by Dogecoin cofounder Billy Markus regarding his activity on the X social media platform.
Markus, who created the original meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, in 2013, has a fervent supporter in Cuban. The latter was the principal owner of the Mavericks basketball team, which accepted DOGE for tickets and merchandise. However, in November 2023, Cuban sold most of his stake in the team, retaining only 27% worth over $3 billion.
During an AMA ("ask me anything") session on X in January, Cuban confirmed that the Mavericks still accept DOGE. The team has been accepting Dogecoin as payment since 2021, making them the first sports team to embrace crypto.
Cuban Offers Support to DOGE Founder
Cuban, once a vocal cryptocurrency critic, has recently become a strong advocate for DOGE, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other top cryptos. He responded to a recent "confession" by Markus about his approach to social media, which involved a degree of "shit posting" and complaining.
Mark Cuban supported Markus, and they both agreed that "positive trolling" is "never silly."

Markus Comments on "Big Announcement for DOGE"
As reported by U.Today, Markus was asked about the timing of a rumored "big announcement for DOGE." He responded by stating that he had no plans to make any such announcements.
Markus reminded the X user that he had withdrawn from the Dogecoin project over a decade ago, along with Jackson Palmer, almost immediately after the meme coin's launch.
DOGE was initially created as a parody of Bitcoin (based on the BTC code), an alternative cryptocurrency inspired by the meme dog Kabosu, not intended to be a serious competitor to Bitcoin.
Markus still holds a small amount of DOGE and a very small amount of Bitcoin, as he tweeted earlier this year.
