Shytoshi Kusama, the anonymous lead spokesperson for the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, recently highlighted the cryptocurrency's strong performance among the market's top performers.
According to data from the "World of Statistics" account, SHIB has gained 150% year-to-date, ranking second only to Dogecoin's 310% gain among meme-inspired cryptocurrencies. Other notable performers include Solana (134%), Bitcoin (113%), and Binance Coin (BNB) (98%).
Kusama emphasized that SHIB remains the largest Ethereum token by market capitalization, with a valuation of $14.9 billion. However, Pepe Coin (PEPE) often surpasses SHIB in trading volume.
Kusama also addressed the issue of burning tokens. While acknowledging the community's desire for large-scale burns, he noted the challenges, including the rising costs and the difficulty in significantly reducing the supply.
Instead, Kusama suggested focusing on creating new utilities for SHIB and related tokens. By exploring staking opportunities and use cases, the aim is to drive sustainable adoption and position SHIB as more than a meme coin.
Kusama believes that by implementing these measures, SHIB can gain a long-term competitive advantage in the cryptocurrency market.
